The designer

My name is Johanna Gullberg. I was born and raised in Sweden, but after never really knowing where my place was, I unexpectedly found my happiness in a small Cretan paradise village called Paleohora. I live in a house overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and find inspiration in everything around me. Life in a small Greek village has it's challenges, especially being raised into being a strong, independant, intellectual woman with equal rights and opportunities as any man. The career opportunities in Paleohora aren't many and I have since my arrival been searching for ways to make a decent living on something that actually enriches my life. I am a part time content writer, part time shop attendant and part time breakfast hostess at my husband's family run hotel. All these jobs are nice, mainly because they are all part time and together give me variation.

Sewing

As a new mother with too much time on my hands and too little creativity going around, Irealized I had to start creating and bought myself a sewing machine. After practising on pillow cases I soon moved on to making clothes for my little daughter and her cousins. Word spread, as it usually does in a small village, and before I knew it I was selling girls' dresses in the local fashion shop. Being able to create beautiful things that people are willing to pay for is quite fantastic.
